Maybe you’re a writer just getting started, or you’re mid-career and considering changing genres or agents.  Perhaps you’re curious about the world of publishing and want to know more about how it all works.  Maybe you’ve been revising the same novel for months (or years!) and you can’t quite tell whether the notes you’ve been getting from your friends/editors/teachers are making it better or worse.

Personally, I’ve been through it all!  I began working in publishing years ago, first at a literary agency, then in the marketing department at Random House Children’s Books for nearly a decade.

I’ve published more than a dozen books, some of which became bestsellers, selling hundreds of thousands of copies—but I also know what it’s like when a book takes time to find its audience.  In addition to my own writing, I’ve worked as a ghostwriter, with book packagers, and on IP (intellectual property) projects.  I’ve worked closely with fellow authors as they plotted and revised their work to share with agents and editors.  I collaborated with the showrunners of Netflix’s Outer Banks to craft the plot for Outer Banks: Lights Out; Entertainment Weekly called the book “heart-pounding.”  I partnered with the creators of the YouTube phenomenon The Haunting of Sunshine Girl to bring their world to the page in a YA book series; the first book in the series sold over 100,000 copies within nine months of its on sale date and went on to become a New York Times bestseller.  I’ve been published by houses big and small.  Along the way, I’ve worked with various agents, editors, and publicists.
